The difference between LVT and SPC floors

Vinyl floors are a huge trend at the moment. Due to their great properties, they are suitable for any room in the house or apartment. However, you will find a huge amount of vinyls on the market. Each type has its own specifics, according to which you can recognize them. What is the difference between the two most popular - LVT and SPC?

What is an LVT floor?

LVT stands for Luxury Vinyl Tiles. It is a traditional vinyl floor that has been on the market for years. It consists of a classic PVC core, thanks to which it is flexible and soft. It is suitable for any room in the house or apartment, including the kitchen and bathroom. So playfully place it really anywhere. It's up to you whether you opt for a new LVT floor in the bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, living room, guest room, hallway or children's room. It is guaranteed to stand out in all areas.

What is an SPC floor?

SPC stands for Stone Plastic Composite. This type of floor is made of composite plastic, thanks to which it has a solid construction and is less flexible. It is one of the most popular materials for more demanding rooms, where moisture is retained. It is therefore a perfect choice for the bathroom or kitchen. Of course, you don't have to hesitate even in the case of less demanding rooms, which include the living room, bedroom, kitchen, hallway, children's room or guest room.

Comparison of LVT and SPC

Although at first glance it may seem that LVT and SPC do not differ in any way, there are differences between them. You will find differences mainly in workmanship, board thickness, properties, but also in price. How do they differ from each other and in what way are they almost the same?

Board thickness

While LVT boards are approximately 4 mm thick and less, SPC boards can be found in thicknesses from 4 mm to 6 mm. So SPC boards are a bit thicker, and you can feel the difference when walking. LVTs are slightly more flexible, which is due to the lower thickness. They are softer while walking.

Load class

As we wrote above, LVT floors are more flexible, so they may not provide sufficient stability at higher loads. SPC floors have a stronger core and provide sufficient stability. However, the difference is minimal, but when you examine it more deeply, you will feel it.

Appearance

The appearance of SPC and LVT is very similar. The printed design is constantly improving, so in both cases you can count on a quality design. In some cases, however, the SPC may be more realistic and structured. You can choose classic wooden decors, which are reminiscent of laminate or wood. Stony floors, for example in cement or grain decor, are also a perfect choice. Lovers of modernity will also appreciate the vinyl, which has the appearance of matt ceramic tiles.

Installation

On the market you will find traditional LVT floors, which you attach to the surface with the help of a special glue. You no longer need glue for newer designs. You install the floor using a simple click system. The installation of SPC floors is also built on a click system.

The price

In both cases, the price is directly proportional to the quality. SPC floors offer maximum quality, 100% durability and first-class design. Their price is therefore a bit higher than in the case of LVT floors. However, this does not mean that LVT floors are not of good quality. Also in our offer you will find highly durable LVT that will suit all your requirements.
